Ambassador Mohamed Hegazy, former Assistant Foreign Minister, affirmed that the world faces a dangerous situation after the American strikes on Iran, noting that Iran has the right to withdraw from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty due to threats to its national security.
He continued during his interview with journalist Ahmed Moussa – via Zoom – on the “Ala Masouleety” program, broadcast on Sada El Balad channel: “Iran’s reaction will be decisive after its facilities were hit, and the expected action will be a painful strike against Israel.”
He added: “Israel lured Trump into the Iranian conflict, and North Korea is developing a nuclear bomb to avoid similar events to what happened in Iraq under Saddam Hussein’s rule.”
Ambassador Mohamed Hegazy explained that the possession of nuclear weapons by either Iran or Israel is an extremely dangerous scenario, especially since other countries might pursue nuclear weapons non-peacefully.
Hegazy continued: “The Egyptian Foreign Ministry and President Sisi are undertaking international efforts to stop the war because the scale of losses is severe on both sides, and Tel Aviv will claim through its media that it has ended Iran’s nuclear project.”
