According to Axios, Iran attacked the American base in Qatar with approximately 6 missiles in what was called “Operation Harbingers of Conquest.” This attack was preceded by urgent meetings in the United States in anticipation of the strike, which came in response to a US attack on nuclear facilities in Tehran.
Axios also reported that Iraq activated its air defense system in anticipation of an Iranian attack on US bases there. Subsequently, sirens blared in Bahrain, and the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait began preparing for such attacks.
A short while ago, Qatar announced the closure of its airspace, with reports circulating that the UAE has followed suit, announcing a halt to its flights.
For its part, Fox News aired reports stating there was an “imminent threat” of an Iranian attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
The US urged its citizens in Qatar to remain in place for their safety and in anticipation of any emergencies.
All US Army bases in the Middle East also announced a maximum alert level.
The Royal Saudi Air Force also announced a state of maximum alert.
From Iran’s side, The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran is moving missile launchers to positions in preparation for a potential attack on US forces in the Middle East, in response to a surprise US strike that targeted three nuclear sites over the weekend, according to US officials.
At the same time, the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) is closely monitoring a “credible threat” targeting US forces in the region.
